Yes, you're correct.

Do you have any other comments about the level itself?

No, there's a reason it's done that way. Doom can render 1-sided lines with much less processor overhead than it'd take to render the same thing using 2-sided lines.

The only legitimate purpose for the types of pillars you made here is if you need to have one texture on the top half and a different texture on the bottom half, for which it's a pretty commonly-used technique.

I don't think the gifs themselves were dumb, but what IS dumb is having to download almost six megabytes of images every single time I open the thread.
So noted.
Congratulations on becoming less dumber

Insulting people isn't going to get you anywhere Additup there were times I would return the favor but I can't really be arsed to waste time on the likes of you.

Your stupidity is allready proven in that thread on doomworld so please go ahead insult me as much as you can what the fuck do I care.

The level runs just fine, ergo, clearing out the pillars would be the way to waste time. As for the gifs, trying new things is the way to gain skills and fresh modes of self-expression. But hey now! keep on swinging, slugger, you're bound to score sooner or later...

Yes using gifs is dumb and an waste of time.

Sure you could make pillars like how you desire but the way you create them is more time consuming but it seems you like to waste time so anyway keep making them like this.

by additup » Sat Dec 01, 2007 22:55

The hard work is what is displayed in the pictures, not the pictures themselves. So, you're saying that using gifs is stupid? Or that what the gifs displayed is stupid? Regardless, stupid means nothing and is the opposite of useful feedback. I can create pillars however I desire, you don't get to tell me the "right" way, I'll do what works.

Doom builder found hundreds of errors that were not errors, mostly missing sidefs that aren't missing, they're editing tricks that doom builder can't sort through, but given that I've never had any problem with the unclosed sectors you mentioned that prevented me from playing the level, I never became aware of their presence. So, thank you for pointing those out to me. That is useful feedback.

by Dutch Devil » Sat Dec 01, 2007 15:31

You call it hard work I call making and uploading animated textures an waste of time, I have played the map.

No player 2,3,4 start spots if this was my map I would have put those in, sectors 145, 170, 204, 804, 805, 1902, 1962, 2011, 2435, 3178 are unclosed.

Doombuilder found alot more errors I suggest fixing those which can be fixed, lowering ceilings and raising floors to make an solid pillar is not the right way to create them.

Hows that for feedback...

Calling my hard work "dumb" and "stupid" is not helpful. I've annihilated the screenshots, though, as per popular concensus.

Why don't you download it and take screen shots that you think show the map at its best?

Or, better yet, why not play the map and give me some real feedback?

Couldn't you post some screens that don't look dumb you know screens that show your map at its best those gif images are just stupid.

I kinda like the hallway with those green torches I like the ceiling detail, the map looks okay so far but some finer details couldn't hurt most screens showed here look empty.

I wonder why the Cacodemon should emit light while dying
I'm confused about why this matters.

Why shouldn't it? It somehow manages to generate glowing fireballs inside its body, and when you kill it the body bursts open. It seemed perfectly logical to me... which had nothing to do with why I added the effect.
Whoa, geez! Watch how big your animated gifs are! That last screenshot is three freaking megabytes which I bet is larger than the entire wad file...
I am also confused about why this matters.

Edit: So, following a couple weeks of no-replies, I receive two non-replies. Does anyone here have something constructive (or even pertinent) to say?
