Yet another news, I'm done with the layout and design, the only thing that's left to do is the content stuff that must be added. Right now I'm adding the news back to the system :)

...and adding all the content in 2 languages is... evil... EEEVIL!

Thx guys, I'm glad if you like it :)

TBH I'd be more happy if you used the forum integration like other hostees.

Actually I don't like the forum integration pages to be honest, everything's by far to limit and concerning site technics and design, I would like to have full control...

The fact that I depend on the phpBB forum conc. the site integration and the fact that Joomla has many more features, is more attractive and more usef-friendly. Nothing to add here!

...on the other hand, you have technical difficulties with it and it has over 11000 (!!!) files. Sorry, but that's pretty bloated considering that I can make most of the features using phpbb + some coding in a few (or only one) file.

For my next site design (that I'm working on) I'm going to have to build a hybrid CMS to have design control, valid code and forum integration.

@Grub - That's sadly true but it's not very easy for someone like me to choose a good CMS with all the necessary features I want to have from the hundred of CMS out there, PHPNuke, Mambo, Typo, Freeflux etc.
Joomla has a great community with lots of people that can help me and that was the reason for me to choose that one. Sure, it has lots of stuff that is totally unnecessary and useless but as long as I do not use that, there is no problem :)

exactly what features do you require that phpbb integration won't readily comply with?

Valid XHTML is the biggest bugger for me. I had to write a ton of preg_replace() functions to deal with that. I still can't use \
  • or \
    • with them.

Also you can't have more control over design, you get text and whatever BBCode will allow (not much).

I'm writing hooks into my database to deal with those problems though. I'll have the fancy XHTML version of the post and some special data (category etc) in my database while pulling comments, linkage and graphics from Fetch. Nifty system. A bit cumbersome to edit though.
