[You] tag

Post by Rachael »

Some of you might have seen an odd post from me. It was achieved by a Username tag, used as such:

Code: Select all

[you][/you]
The reason why it needs to be closed with [/you] is a limitation in phpBB3's BBCode implementation.

The code will substitute the name of the user reading the post.

So, Username, now you know. :)

I can't remember seeing or saying anything about a odd post, but I could just be remembering wrong :P

It was there. It seemed to have caught a few people off guard, I was expecting a confused discussion to arise from it... but it didn't happen. Oh well. :)

Anyway, this tag might not be permanent. It depends on how it's used. I don't really see how it's actually useful anyway, but it was fun to implement.

I am confused -- What did the resulting post look like

And what are these tags supposed to do anyways?

Try it. The sample is in the code block. :)

If you're really confused, log out and look at the topic again.

I knew that Username would use it for immature purposes.

What, now you're actually going to POST it, too? Quoting wasn't enough? :P[/note]I also implemented - but that one actually is useful. Enclosing your post in tags allows you to put a hidden message in your post, visible only to people who edit it, or quote it.

This allows you to remind yourself of certain things, particularly with journal threads and such, or also leave a fancy dancy message to a moderator before they iron-hammer your post into oblivion. :)

Quote this post, and you will see an example.

Aha! Now that makes sense of things... Kind of.

Without knowledge of the You tag This thread is most confusing with everyone apparently talking about or to me. :trippy:
