GZDOOM only finds certain WADS to load ????

Hi

I seem to have a big problem with loading any PWADS or GZDOOM compatable WADS . ( WADS made by other people except the default or original DOOM II WADS made by iD or TNT and so forth.

ZDOOM and GZDOOM seem to only be able to find the original DOOM wads when it loads and then ask me which WAD to I want to load or play.

I have downloaded many WADS that state they are ZDOOM or GZDOOM compatable. But as I said , GZDOOM engine does not seem to find them or show them on the screen at all.

Can any one please help me or explain what i am doing wrong and why I can not play other WADS or why does GZDOOM not show them or play them??

I get most of my WADS from 2 very good sites ( Doomworld.com and doom.wikia.com

(doom.wikia.com has LOTS of wads that will explain what engine the wad is compatable to play with. So I am sure that GZdoom should be working with these WADS.

An example WAD that I can play( using Doom95 , Doom collector's Edition ) is named ACTION DOOM.
This WAD will play fine if i play it with regular Doom 95 disc or game. but if i open GZdoom and do a search to run this WAD , it will not show up in the WAD menu . ( Neither do any of my other wads that I added into my DOOM II , Ultimate Doom and Final Doom directories..

PLEASE HELP , coz I want to play DOOOOOOOOOOOM :chaingun:

The menu when you start lists only the available games, not the available mods. It is not an integrated launcher.

There are many ways to "add" a PWAD to ZDooM, GZDooM, or most of the source ports available. Here are a few:
  • 1. Simply "drag and drop". Put your PWAD into the same folder as your GZDooM files, then select the PWAD with your mouse, drag it to gzdoom.exe, and release your mouse button. GZDooM will start with the PWAD loaded.
    2. Use a batch file. A batch file is a simple text file that you run by double-clicking on. Here is an example of what might be in the text file:
    gzdoom -file paranoid.wad -warp 05 -skill 03
You do not even need to add the -warp and -skill parameters; just gzdoom -file paranoid.wad will do. So create a simple text file like this with MS Notepad, give it a name (e.g., playparanoid.txt), then rename it to have a .bat extension instead of a .txt extension (e.g., playparanoid.bat). Double-click on the file and GZDooM will start up with the PWAD loaded.
    3. Use a launcher, which will typically provide a user-interface similar to DooM95.
