Glare

Post by printz »

How much are the chances that glare effects be implemented in GZDoom? The motivation is that some people (see KDiZD, Vaporware demo, HPack) really like to place fake glare sprites next to the light sources. The obvious problem is that they tend to be visible even when the source is not, and in the end, they're just fancy sprites -- people will know it's just a hack. It would be great if each sprite could have an attached map that contained the glow information. If the pixels in the map are bright enough, the sprite will start glowing when its equivalent pixels are drawn on screen. This would be interesting gameplay-wise to implement things like suns in the sky (which mustn't be looked at), nuclear explosions or monsters throwing super-bright flares.

You mean Coronas/Lens Flares? That would be nice.

None.

I have stopped development on the GL renderer 2 years ago.
