I like Gez's feature to render fullbright spites in colored fog. It's a great addition, but there are times when it looks out of place...
A mapper may wish to use a subtle haze in one map which will not obscure bright objects, but a thick fog in another that can block out anything. Asking the player to change this option between maps would be a bit much. A MapInfo flag would specifically force the feature on or off per map.
It may also be desirable to add "force on / force off" values to the engine option, as well, in case a particular player has issues with it being changed.
