DRD Team File Sharing open, again!

Post by Rachael »

Now that we're on a new host, the file sharing site has undergone a bit of a revamp. The old script was dumped completely, because it didn't work too well, and now a new script has been put in place that hopefully will be much better.

Without further ado, the link is the same as the old one: http://files.drdteam.org/

The graphical design of the service is really bad IMO, I just see black all over, not even distinguishing the text box or buttons there... :x

Am I right in saying that the user accounts have been reset? When I try to log in using my old username/password, I get "Login Failed" and if I try to get it to send me a new password, it says:

Code: Select all

Unable to access an error message corresponding to your field name.
Unable to access an error message corresponding to your field name.
No User is registered with that username/email address combination.
It's no big deal. I can easily make a new account. I just wanted to check that this was expected behaviour.

[edit] Oh, and it's not black for me - it's pretty much white. I assume that has been changed. [/edit]

The old script has completely been dumped, so you have to make a new fresh account. ;)

Yeah, I didn't like it. It was inefficient, insecure, couldn't accept big files, etc. It was pretty much garbage.

So yes, you are right.

That has been changed - I liked the old theme better but in my opinion the white background is much more readable.

This script seems way better than the old one so far... Thanks, SP :) Any chance PK3 and WAD files will be accepted at some point?

Is there any way you can boost the username char limit? 12 seems a little short.

PK3 files, yes, WAD files no. I would like WAD files to be compressed before they are uploaded - it saves me disk space.

Unfortunately, that is not possible with this script, it appears to be hard-coded. It will take some looking into in order to change that, but at this point I wouldn't hold my breath for anything happening.

I have noticed that if I go to the file sharing site and forget to log in, I cannot upload a file. That is fair enough but the message that you get is misleading. It says:

"One or more of the files you selected were too large.
These files have been removed."

It had me scratching my head until I realised that I wasn't logged in. Is there any way of changing this to say something like "You need to log in to upload files"?

I'm honestly not sure - I'm tempted to say no, but I know there's a way to code around it. I'm just buried deep in too many projects right now that I just don't have the time to do that right now.
