Thanks to Tormentor667, we now have a new set of default styles. These styles come in 4 different color schemes, and are also sleeker and more clean than the original style.

So give them a try!

(Note that veteran board users will have to switch to the new styles manually, all new accounts will be on the default "Original Cyan" style already)

Some nice styles there. I'm tending towards black/cyan or black/orange myself.

At work, all the graphics have a pale grey square background - I'm not sure if I like that but it could just be the old crappy version of ie that we have to use on these work machines. It has problems with transparency in png graphics. :? I'll see properly when I get home.

And it was just the crappy old version of ie at my work. No problems at home.

Slick work - I'm using Original Cyan now.

I like them all but I suspect that I might go back to Hermes even though it probably isn't as pretty. Why? Because it highlights which of the sub forums have a new post in them whereas these new ones don't seem to. IIRC, that particular feature isn't compatible with all skins, but I do like it and use it.

[edit] Ooops, actually, i think it does do that. I just didn't spot it in the colours that I'm not used to. [/edit]

Here's a couple of examples of how things look at work. Silly ie 6.0

Transparency was never inherently supported in IE6. It was a flaw in Microsoft's design that I'll never understand. I'm guessing they originally had a PNG implementation that was relied on for one thing or another in the browser, and then when somebody realized that they needed to support transparency it was a last-minute deal that required a work-around to achieve.

In order to get transparent images, you needed to call a plug-in (which was always included with IE, but still inconvenient). That's one reason why I don't support IE6 anymore is because of little things such as this.

Someday, in the future, I might put in a script that executes the plug-in automatically, but... well, for now, IE6 is outta luck.

I hate to go "Graf mode," but yeah... IE 6 is a shining example of poorly organized and hacky coding, that up to the point when it was released, Microsoft was famous for.

Isn't IE in its ninth or tenth revision now anyway? Using IE6 in the last month of 2009 is kinda like using Mosaic.

Welcome to education and, more specifically, computer policies established by Scottish local authorities. :? If I could update I would. Using ie6 is laughable. It's not that long since we upgraded from 5.5!

And I remember waaaay back, Brian at notgod.com (the owner of the site that Zdoom used to be hosted on) complaining about ie's broken png transparency support. How long has Zdoom been hosted on its own domain?

I always had a sneaking suspicion that MS were dragging their heels in properly supporting PNGs given that they were a free alternative to other image formats that had copyright issues (such as gif) but not an MS alternative. (Kind of like MP3 support was patchy compared to MS formats for a long time and ogg still is).

I do but, IMO, an improvement would be to make the "new sub forum post" icon a bit more obvious. It may be easier to spot at lower screen resolutions but at my screen res, it isn't particularly obvious. eg, in this attached screenshot, there is a new post in the news thread (in fact, the one you just made) but it doesn't really leap out enough IMO.

And another

It's kind of the DRD version of Where's Wally/Waldo ;)

Can anything be done there?

(and I have had my eyes tested recently so I know it's not that. :P )
