That was something I didn't do yet with the new ad system and wasn't sure I wanted to. While the site does really need money, yes, I also don't like being overly intrusive with advertising - and so it comes as a balance for doing one thing or another. I suppose I could enable that option for anyone who wants. :) I just have to figure out how I'm going to fit that ad in there using CSS.

I remember you used to have ads on the forum for guests... A couple questions:
  1. Were those ads revenue per view?
  2. Is there a phpBB3 mod to allow registered users to opt-in to seeing ads?
If both are "yes" I'd gladly whitelist this site in AdBlock and opt in. I know it wouldn't be much, but it's at least something I could do.

Two more people have donated at $10 each, and one additional person at $2, bringing us up to $52. :) Thank you!

It isn't much, but if it still reduces the yearly cost from $480 to $440, it's not too bad. :) I've newsed this on Realm667 and encouraged people without online paying facility to go click on ads to hopefully increase their yield a little.

It takes about 3 months just to get $10 from the PW ads. They help but it's hardly significant enough to make much of a difference. I'm contemplating whether to even keep them at all.

Also, as of this post, so far I've received $30. Thank you to the two of you who have donated. :) My goal with this fund raiser is to get enough for one year - which would total about $480.

Do the PW ads help a bit? I've only noticed them on the front page, whereas I guess most traffic goes to the forum, SVN build site, and file share site. Looking at the stats, it doesn't seem like bids ever reach above six cents.

I have once again set up the donation page for anyone who wishes to help DRD Team survive. BoldEnglishman has recently informed me that he would no longer be able to help, which is a real shame. :( I thank you for your previous help, as well as everyone who has donated in the past.

For anyone who needs to know, the cost of the site and services is $40/mo. It's a Linode 768 with backups enabled. For those who may not know this community too well, the reason why the site is on a VPS is because it hosts an assortment of daemons to support the community that are not included in standard web hosting packages - services which have proven to be vital to the success and usefulness of DRD Team.

You may click here if you wish to help out, and thanks. :)

UPDATE: BoldEnglishman has told me he will help once more, and has recently sent me $160. The recent donations received will continue to be used to help support the site, even if it might be simply to buy upgrades or licenses here and there. Thank you, everyone! And if you still want to donate, you are still more than welcome!
