Ahh, I see how it's done now. Once you see an example, it makes so much sense.

Thanks!

[ECWolf Modding] Question regarding pushwalls and map translation

by Wizarduous » Sat Nov 07, 2020 17:07

Hello,

I've been playing some custom map packs lately. I ran across an old one, "Acktung!". However, playing these maps in ECWolf, while possible, isn't working as intended? Basically, a lot of these Acktung maps have pushwalls that are intended to go 3 spaces instead of 2. Apparently this was an old engine quirk that is no longer present in ECWolf. I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this...

I would like to make these pushwalls move 3 spaces as the developer of these maps intended. How do I do this? Documentation mentions this: Bug was fixed by Wolf4SDL so the pushwalls always move two spaces. Some vanilla mods took advantage of this bug and a custom Map translator can be made to change the pushwall movement range to three spaces.

How does one make a custom map translator to change pushwall behavior? I'm struggling. I'm assuming I'll need to make a new .pk3 with changes to XLAT? What would that look like? Any help or advice is welcome! Thanks in advanced.
