Ugh. While I agree jimmy91's complaint has rather poor logic behind it, it's just as bad to give a list which is entirely based on your opinion a name like the "Big 5" and expect other people to know what the hell you're talking about. Personally, I would think a more deserving group would look like this:

Scythe 2
Alien Vendetta
Hell Revealed
Kama Sutra
Memento Mori

...but that doesn't mean anything compared to people who may have drastically differing opinions. Scythe 2 is rarely mentioned among favorite WADs by other people, and after recently playing through Requiem again with a few others, we actually think it's a megawad with very inferior gameplay compared to other WADs.

Bottom line is, unless there has ever been a community-wide poll to determine something as lofty as the top 5 megawads ever (and not one that took place 5+ years ago), I would highly suggest never labeling your own opinion with such a name unless you're intentionally trying to confuse people.

I didn't say his level sucked.

by Phobus » Mon Jul 03, 2006 17:27

Else they wouldn't be the Big 5 :P

Thank you Ellmo for your comments.

I think it is possible to built realistic maps with doom - well, much more with zdoom or a source port.

I like realistic maps and classica-doom-styled maps.

I like playing doom and building doom levels.

I have always a lot of good ideas, i work on 4-5 levels in the same time.

Your comments make me think i'm on the right way.
Thank you.

I'm just telling that people who think that Doom cannot get more realistic than Hell Revealed 2 or Alien Vendetta are simply retarded.
Paul wrote:Also, thanks for my nice review of Dwarf Town ^_____^ I would not expect someone to like that crappy map so much.
I told you the first time I played it - it's an absolutely awesome map. I didn't give you 5/5 just because I like you.
And I hate when people refuse to play good maps, and they don't feel the overwhelming atmosphere just beacuse they can't run around with double shotty dodging revenant's fireballs. It's cramped - oh gimme a break.

BULLSHIT! And you're on the right path to show them, they're wrong.

I've played it through. What Paul and jimmy91 said, was mostly true. The map is nicely designed with all those locations I'm willing to see in any map - dining room, some private quarters, a bridge and all that.
The gun replacements were unnecessary - in my humble opinion - as they are worse that default ones, and have absolutely shitty sounds. I remeber playing the old Star Trek Doom quite a while ago, so those weapons are old and a bit ugly... not to say they're repetitive.

But what concerns your map - It's very good you're going towards much more vivid and much more ambitious projects. The so-called community definitely lacks mappers with ability to create IMMERSIVE, and realistic environments. Most of them say that's beacuse Doom was never meant to be realistic. BULLSHIT! And you're on the right path to show them, they're wrong.

I'm awaiting more starships, spacestations and cities from you.

and BTW: The music here _SUCKS_

I've played this wad. It's fucking awesome :) gameplay is on the annoying side rather (due to weak weapon sounds) but the build quality is certainly there! Axellent.
