You presumably downgraded to 1.2.x after having a 1.3.x build. Just enter the game by hitting enter a few times and then press F11 to boost the gamma correction back to 1.0.

First things first, I'm playing on a mac.

Now that that's out of the way, I'm having a graphical issue; namely, when I launch the game, I see the "the memory thing was just for show anyway" screen, then it goes black. I can get past the title screen, which doesn't display correctly, and the main menu looks like this:
