I think it must be a phpBB "being different" thing. I can't think of another forum software that even has right-side and doesn't at least make it a user option.

Unfortunately I can't point you to any mods, since I modified mine manually. On that note: Hopefully I won't end up having to hack at the layout with Stylish, since it looks like the new Zandronum forum is going to give me the same problem.
