How's dev on ECWolf coming along?

Post by RetroWolf92 »

Figured I'd stop by after being gone many, many months because I was working on school stuff. Anyhoo, it shouldn't be any secret that I LOVE ECWolf, so I was just checking in to see how dev is coming along (I'd imagine it varies depending upon events in your personal lives and whatnot...)

Things are moving slower than I had hoped, but still moving. Time flies so fast these days. :P

If the author's recent post was any indication, not as close as we'd like to be. I know he can get very busy sometimes and tied up with his projects at work and school, and that's perfectly okay. But if we want to see anything happen, we might have to lend a hand. Know any experienced coders who can help merge in bits and pieces of others' code without making a huge mess? :)

I could try, but it would take me weeks to do it, and frankly I just don't have the time. I have to put my own real life needs first, and right now that means working whenever I can.

I'm not seeing it here? If there is, either he's found another site to host it, or he has not uploaded it yet.

And - if it does exist - then feel free to disregard my previous comment, because obviously all that needs work then is fixing the bugs and cleaning up code (the latter of which, unfortunately, we cannot do ourselves unless we're very familiar with Blzut3's preferences for formatting and organization and such).

True. It seems to have disappeared. I only see mention of it here

I haven't touched ECBlake in close to 3 years now?! That doesn't seem right at all...

I'm also really looking forward to the MacWolf + MacWolf mod support on top of that too, how close is that?

Part of the problem is that there are a lot of things to work on:
  • Base functionality: Performance, rendering, sound, etc.
  • Game support: Getting Blake Stone, Rise of the Triad, and others to a playable state.
  • Modding support: Bringing in ZDoom features and designing ECWolf-specific ones.
If there were one or more active contributors for each feature set, development would probably rocket ahead.

I am glad Mac Wolf is coming in first since it's only one with no source port at all now that S3DNA has one.

Found a bug when playing Super Noah's Ark 3D, when I'm about to get extra life after collecting 50 fruits, ECWolf crashes on me.

Not sure why you posted here instead of on the issue tracker, but fixed.

I am actually new to this and I didn´t know about the issue tracker, so forgive me for this.
