I hope to minimize the downtime as much as possible and will try to have the services running for as long as possible, if possible, although some slow-downs will be expected.
The upgrade is now complete.
All operating systems undergo release cycles and major changes, often which hopefully add new features. However, older versions stop getting supported, which is all and well but if you don't keep up with things it means that you will no longer get critical security updates and your system becomes vulnerable. That isn't the case yet with Ubuntu 10 LTS, but it's never a bad idea to stay ahead of the curve.Paul wrote:Oh well... life's tough when it comes to inevitable things like this.
Hopefully, thing'll get even better after that
And even more importantly, as I've found out the hard way, if your release is unsupported for too long the upgrade path disappears. Since we're using the LTSs this wouldn't happen until April 2017, but just saying. (Support for 10.04 ends in 2015.)Eruanna wrote:if you don't keep up with things it means that you will no longer get critical security updates and your system becomes vulnerable.
