Risen 3D Question.

Post by DHarry »

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this, I just registered today. I was trying to reinstall my Risen 3D along with the textures and all that go with it. Like my fav abbs weapon pack. Every texture, skybox, or whatever I try and d/l from the Risen 3D page my Norton grabs it and deletes. I did un quarantine the weapons one but it was an application and after running it, it did not let me use the mod or even see it in the Risen launcher. I seem to remember just d/ling these things and then using them from the Risen launcher. Thanks for any help you can give me. Sorry if I made no sense but I will answer any questions you have. :)

Well - I extracted Risen3D and re-uploaded it and got no viruses at all. --> https://virustotal.com/en/file/d6ad22f6 ... 463817433/

Have you scanned your own computer recently?

Also - Norton is known to have issues at times.

Sorry if my post was misleading. I did not have trouble with the actual Risen3D d/l. The trouble was with all the additional downloads. Model packs 1 and 2, hudweapons, alt soldiers, the patches, textures, ect... Even if I have Norton remove them from quarantine they do not do anything, as in Risen does not see them as being there for use.

My own comp scan was clean.

I think the problem is with Norton, then. I'm sorry for being so blunt in saying this, but ever since I've learned of its existence on my clients' machines it has been nothing but 100% trouble. A huge disappointment because back before they were in the anti-malware business Symantec was an awesome company.

I'd recommend switching to Avast or AVG. They each have their own problems, too, but they are better than Norton.

The problem here is not Risen3D or its extras packs. It's your Norton.

Model Pack 2: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/4fb7 ... 463891496/

Doom1 Skyboxes: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/cdb8 ... 463891786/

Just from the very list you gave, even VirusTotal's Norton isn't being set off. Obviously, their's is not configured for heuristic scanning, but still, no one else has any problem. Those files literally are just self-extracting archives - nothing more.
