First-timer, dumb issue

Hey, guys,

Couldn't find a good response out there. To load WADs, I just drag them onto the executable, right? (or do command-line stuff, I know). The WAD loads, shows the creator's splash screen, but when starting a new game, it only shows the vanilla game's episodes...and if i press nothing, then splash screen changes to the vanilla Doom credits. What am I doing wrong, here?

Most WADs are loaded with Doom 2. It sounds like you're using Doom 1.

The majority of WADs will only work with either Doom 1 or Doom 2, and it is usually stated in the attached text file. If not, look for the map replacement list for the WAD - Doom1 wads will use ExMx for its map naming scheme, whereas Doom2 mods typically use MAPxx.

If you're missing Doom2, you can download FreeDoom Phase 2, here.
