GZDoom 2.3.1 released

This is a bugfix release. Fixes include:

- Dehacked strings were cut off at the end
- corrected a few cases where dynamic lights were not correctly set up
- default lights for Doom and Heretic are now properly attenuated.
- fixed a few issues with the ZScript compiler
- fixed potential crash with Doom's boss brain
- fixed state validation problem with Dehacked modifications.
- fixed a crash with multiplayer games
- fixed a few more cases where player sprites became momentarily visible during a portal transition.
- made particle translucency calculations more precise

Indeed, thank you very much. As ever your efforts are much appreciated.

I just happened to notice that the 64 bit version has been downloaded more than the 32 bit (at the moment 13 times versus 3) so I went and looked at the 2.3.0 release and the numbers are 64 bit 6068, 32 bit 2053. I just thought it was interesting.

@Enjay: That is part of the reason we do forum attachments for releases. The download numbers do help give us some idea of how many people are actually using 32-bit builds - but of course that does not account for the very few people who are likely to download both just to collect them for posterity.

32-bit is still useful to me. Great for making sure my computer's RAM doesn't explode from an infinite loop by mistake and freezing Windows when doing some hard testing. :P

And, as a result, gives an indication of the kind of setups people are running. Clearly the majority are running a 64 bit setup on machines that are intended to do so.

It's also interesting to me that over 8000 downloads only generated a couple of pages of comments from a small handful of people. I know that there are many reasons for those downloads and also that conversations happen elsewhere but... I dunno, just interesting I guess.

Which should be the norm by now. I found it interesting that some time ago Blzut3 posted statistics for ECWolf which were nearly inversed. But then I had a look at his download page and quickly understood how the presentation of links can skew a result...

About this discrepancy, here's something interesting. I was wondering why the 2.3.1 downloads were so low compared to the last versions, until I noticed that the download page update just sat unsent in another browser window. Which just confirms that most people never visit the forums, they just get what's on the homepage.

I enjoy the forum interaction with the nice few that come in - but am indeed surprised to find that out, how so few people ever actually visit the forum compared to just downloading the newest release. It just goes to show you that the user base is much bigger than the actual community is - but there's also a lot of people who come exclusively from Doomworld/ModDB/Reddit/Youtube/etc, and not ZDoom.org.

I download both, because 2 of my computers have 64-bit OS and one has 32-bit. Sadly, it's the 32-bit machine that has a dedicated graphics card.
