Do not use Rapidshare

Thanks to the fact that Rapidshare's downloads expire after a set amount of time (in addition to several other factors that place it in a negative light), I am forced to declare that, in the future, users should not use Rapidshare to upload resources. If you need webspace to upload a file, there are a few good alternatives like http://www.tripod.com (just remember: you need to have an index.html page, or else they'll delete your site).

ADDENDUM: Mooload is also now on the Do Not Use list, due to extremely poor download speeds, reliability, and accessibility.

i thought it was something about spyware and the likes of that.

I enacted this due to the inconvenience experienced by some users wishing to download old resources and mods.

If the service deletes files after a period of inactivity, then don't use them.

This just in: Mooload exploded. All files that were uploaded were lost.

you could always sign up for an account at http://www.box.net they offer 1GB of free webspace with no ads, and you can make your files public. I use it, and its pretty good

Wasn't the Armory hosted there?

The Armory was hosted at box43.net, which is a hosting service provided out of the good nature of apage43 to people he knows. It is in no way related to box.net.

I would like to make a suggestion as well -- could Mooload possibly be added to the blacklist? It seems to have a rather nasty habit of corrupting files and its download speeds almost make dialup look fast. Unfortunately, I cannot think of another decent host besides Hyperupload.com, and it poses its own problems as well -- dropping the file extensions of nearly everything uploaded.

Can anyone else think of a suitable replacement?

Plus Mooload sometimes saves .wads in ASCII form, IIRC.
