@Enjay: They can make the same looking thing quicker, due to the added features and other useful stuff in the advanced program :)

* TURBO BUMPAGE*
The PSP adventure continues, now with a new friend - the gMax.
I always knew that screenshotted model from a modelling program can be a great base for sprite-like graphic, I just never had time (and ideas) to build such model.
Oh well, yesterday I thought I will go the easy way (kekeke), and grab some free models from Turbo Squid. It really is a good resource, there are a few skilled artists giving nice low-poly models for free. You only need something to open them, and here's where the story begins.

There are a few thing you absolutely need to remeber while using two different programs to achieve one goal. I may describe it later in details, but to put it simply enough - it's all about perspective and colours (as f**king always).

Anyway, I grabbed this simple Bull-Pup rifle (that link probably won't work if you're not registered), and modified it a little (very little, I assure you). Put a camera thing in gMax (it's very important that you always have the same point of view), and started screenshotting.

Of course it was a game of trial and error, but eventually I found a simple way to achieve a satisfying effect. Paradoxically, the less tools I used, the better the effect was. After a good few hours of trying different stuff, and of course discussing all the matters with my dear friend NMN, I made up quite a short routine, that was simple enough to remeber it (at least for the specific piece of weapon), and repeat a few times without a mistake.
Eventually I had a set of steps, that made it possible to create three frames within an hour, from three separate screenshots.
See the results for yourself:

Isn't that rifle based on the British SA80A2 rifle?

Highly doubtful. Although the colors I've applied may look similar. IMO there are numerous bull-pup rifles looking more like the one I used. See for yourself.

DOOOOOOH!
What's the difference? It's a bloody toy, that is very true to SA80 or L85, whatever you want to call it.
And the only resemblance between this gun and the model I used is a bull-pup design and colors.
