Received sad news from abbs.
Hi Wim,
Just received the sad news that Graham passed away in April from a
massive heart attack.
His family had a celebration of life ceremony on the 30th May.
We worked on the Risen3D project for what must have been 20 years, how
time flys.
Be grateful if you could make mention of his passing on the DRDTeam site
Regards,
Steve

Re: Graham Jackson
I was thinking about whether I should make one last map to honor Graham Jackson.
He really loved my models and animation for gameplay and the environments.
Good idea?

Re: Graham Jackson
I think that is a great idea. Especially one that he would have been thrilled to see when he was alive.

Yes, thanks.
Graham really loved future maps, with a lot of interaction with 3D models and scripting.
I am going to make a map that gets the most out of Risen3D, as a tribute to Graham.

Re: Graham Jackson
As I mentioned in your other thread, I think that's a wonderful idea.
Graham absolutely did love maps of the type that you describe and he was always very enthusiastic about your models. It sounds like a fitting tribute and I'm really looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
It's a shame that no one is likely to continue to develop the engine itself, but I also appreciate that it would take a lot of work to update it to modern standards. It's still perfectly functional, of course, but sooner or later it will just become too quirky and old for modern users and operating systems.

I was just searching for further news on Graham. I knew Graham from the late 70's as he designed electric circuits for my fathers company. I was 8 then. We have kept in touch for the past 30 odd years. I last spoke to him in early April and tried to reach-out again some weeks ago and had no response. I feared the worse. He was sharp til the end but did say he was getting frail. I thought little of it - there was something of an invincibility about him. The point being he mentioned you guys fondly on more than one occasion. He had designed his house in something resembling a 1st player shoot-up game 20 or so years ago. I'm gonna miss him and regret not seeing him again....

I don't know who you are, but that was a very touching story, and it warms my heart reading it. I am so glad to see that he has made such a positive impact on your life. I know he was kind with me and once supported DRD Team for a little while, keeping things going until I couldn't keep it up anymore. I really regret that I never got to know him better before he slipped away.
Rest in peace, Graham. You truly were a kind soul.
