I use the software renderer quite often for direct comparisons so it won't go away unless I have a real change to make the entire rest GPL.

I used to have this problem and there is only one solution. Buy a graphics card. You're running an Intel Chipset off your motherboard, which in short is basicly a software renderer that supports only a minor amount of OpenGL and will not support GZDoom in the slightest. I got a 512 GeForce cheaply from Tigerdirect.com and GZDoom ran fine for me. Albeit the advantage of having a graphics card opened up another interest...
...but I don't trust Secondlife anymore...

The interesting thing about this is that it looks exactly the same as my problem with GZDoom
