While playing, press the Y button to "call" (summon) the ship. Then walk over it to "enter". (almost like what would you do with a normal weapon) Finally, to eject from it, press the U button.Chronoteeth wrote:How do we use the ship?
What about changing the front streaks position? The "shine effect" streaks on the front window of the UACRV look like they'd be really annoying in-game, blocking off your view. I'm all for the streaks on the side windows but I think you should either make them transparent, and if that isn't possible then remove the ones on the front.

Well, I downloaded and played the demo thingy that Wolf posted a link to, and what follows is my response to your weapons mod.
(images are behind spoilers due to their obnoxious largeness =p By the way, don't be offended by what I say, because that would be lame. On your part.)

"Holy shit" says I. The fists are way overpowered. Actually, everything's overpowered, so I'll assume this is meant to be that kind of mod, and leave you alone about it.

Ooh, a katana. Definitely a bad sign. Well, at this point I figured this mod would quickly turn into a lame anime with no tentacle rape in it. Oh yeah, it's annoying to kill anything with the katana, since it knocks everyone back a couple meters.
At this point, I would expect to roll up my statbar and see the Doomguy's face replaced with '^___^'.
Ugh. Yeah, too anime-like for my tastes. Too many of you damned Japanophiles on these internets, I say... =p
Let's move this along...

Bad. Ass. That's all. This turned out well. Although...

Aww crap. Another mod I can't play in widescreen. Also the viewscreen streak/shining really is obstructive, and serves no purpose. A clear windscreen would just generally be better, methinks.

Time's up, let's do this! LEEEEROOOY....JENNNNKINS!!
Another one of them hyper-powered weapons. I can't justify devoting any time to trying out the 'ninja-scroll'-powered-up weapons. That would be just stupid.
Okay, well, that's all the monkey-business I have time for. I didn't have any maps with extreme monster populations (that were unfair, that is) to test this bastard on. Oh well, I wasn't up for any further testing anyhow, though I presume that this weaponset could be some fun on unfair maps. Maybe.
As it stands though, the guns are far too dangerous - like I said, no fucking need to power them up with the (and I'm getting really irate for having to say this) 'Ninja-scroll'. Most of the weapons are broken on 1280x768 resolution, and from that, I infer that the hud on the UAC recreational vehicle would look bizarre on anything less than 1024x768 as well.
To touch on the non-overpowered weapons, namely the shotguns...well, they are what they are. Shotguns. They've been in every game ever made. Zero creativity here.
Well, a couple redeeming qualities for this mod were the friendly-marine teleporter thingamajig, and the time-freeze item. Those two were pretty rad, as one could expect. Other than that though, I'm relatively unimpressed. This is higher quality than the usual trash that I am used to seeing, but the finer execution doesn't make up for anything. Somewhat aesthetically pleasing, but overall, a lackluster experience.
Mmm, anyhow, I can't really reccomend this mod to anyone who plays in high-res, or anyone who dislikes overpowered weapons mods, anime and its fanbase, or generic mods (read 'wildweasel').
No offense - the dubious disclaimer.
Am I biased? Probably, but I tried my best to tell it like it is.
Does this review suck? Also probable. But that's hardly my problem. Piss off.
Also, if WW reads this, then goddamnit, stop trying to make your mods technically detailed, ie pickup messages that read "You got the 'Uncreative Arms' heavy-duty 9x67mm super special awesome chocolatey fudge-coated AT rifle!!" instead of "Picked up an AT rifle!". Nobody cares how much history you can fill in on a piece of fictional hardware, or in some cases, how much you pretend to know about firearms. Upon the latter remark, I do recall that in one of the more recent incarnations of ww-diaz.wad, you included a Mauser 98 as a weapon (which was kind of neat, the usage of the iron sights was simultaneously interesting and overdone, interesting even if they are somewhat glitchy, and incorrect.). The pickup messages claim the K98 to be chambered for 7.62mm shells, even though the K98 used its own proprietary bullet, aptly named '8mm Mauser', which is indeed 7.92x57MM. Basically, cut the details out (or have them, within reason).

-edit- Sorry if I sound like I'm flaming anybody =p I wrote this while I was pissed off.

Do you want to test for overpoweredness? Keep in mind how much damage the original Doom weapons did - my preferred targets are Demons and Cacos when I'm testing weapons.
The super shotgun usually takes out one demon in one shot. The regular shotgun took two, sometimes three shots. If your shotgun replacement for some reason takes only one shot to kill a demon, then you need to tone the damage down.
Cacos usually take three full SSG blasts to take down. If your SSG replacement takes fewer than that, it's too powerful.
Also, try going to Doom 2 Map08 and testing your weapons in the room with the barons and the Cyberdemon. That'll tell you right away how powerful your weapons are - if your superweapons are taking less than 7 seconds to nuke the entire room, then (I know I sound like a broken record here) your weapon is too powerful.

Weapons testing results:
Based on what Wildweasel said, i had to reduce the damage of several weapons. most notably the "Winchester"* double barreled Shotgun and the RPG-5000 rocket launcher.
*Small update: i changed the name of the double barreled shotgun. the weapon's designation will now be "winchester" instead of "jericho". the rocket launcher also had it's name changed. now is RPG-5000 rocket launcher. since no one told me about the Lameduke RPG being an overused weapon or not so far, i will leave this weapon.

GZDoom crashes whenever I kill myself with any explosives. The Rocket Launcher along with the ninjascrolled pistols, shotgun, and sub machinegun can crash GZDoom if you get killed yourself with the explosions from those guns. I didn't test to see if this happens with the pipe bombs, but I'll bet it does.
Also, the "shine effect" on the UACRV look kinda tacky in my opinion. It's still pretty cool. I'm glad you're fixing the overpoweredness of the weapons. The Ninjascrolled fists (the war blades) will revert to the normal fists if you kick if you use the Ninja Scroll.
The kunais were pretty cool though, especially when you use the ninja scroll with it.
