GZDoom needs WIKI

...for all the new features of GZDoom that enhance the original ZDoom!

I don't really see a point, it doesn't have THAT many new documentable features. I think it's best left either the way it is already, in the Documentation thread, or creating a GZDoom page on the ZDoom wiki and adding to that. Or both.

GZDoom needs some sort of non-forum documentation. The rather small bit Graf has right now doesnt cut it, and the rest of it is here (and not supar easy to find either).

So then why not go with the second suggestion? Create a page on the ZDoom wiki for GZDoom. It is a derivitive, after all. The same was done with the Community Build AFAICT.

The point is, not it isn't that much but it WILL increase in a certain time, and the more stuff we have to add to a wiki, the harder it will get, so lets start right now, when things are still easy to handle!

You have to ask Grubber whether he is willing to install a Wiki on this site. I really can't do much here. Alternatively you can ask Randy whether he minds if you added a GZDoom subsection there.

Did he mind the unoficial community build area of the wiki?

It's also a question of traffic. The current unofficial section is not particularly well optimized and only a few pages with rough outlines In the long term this will inevitably be more.

I think gzdoom needs really a WIKI... like zdoom...
for e.g

for Decorate special questions
for Doom Legacy implemented special functions etc...
If it is something normal like ACS(LowerTo...)stuff just make links to the zdoom WIKI

Both can be answered on the respective wikis so no.

There really isn't that much additional documentation for GZdoom ATM. Is it really that hard to copy and paste the relevant parts of the Documentation thread into a few text files or something and save them on your HD. Then you don't need to visit the forum every time you want to check your reference. That's all I've done and, frankly, I find it easier than online documentation anyway.

It's a matter of personal taste. I would find a Wiki or similar page specifically about GZDoom features, structured in the same way as the main page, quite helpful.

Of course, what would really be nice is the main ZDoom Wiki pages and entries to include all GZDoom features, but in another coloured text or something, since GZDoom is a true superset of ZDoom anyway. I mean, seriously, what would anybody whose GL hardware & drivers work OK need Vanilla ZDoom for anyway, other than as the seed to grow GZDoom from?

For me, GZDoom has effectively become the "true" ZDoom anyway. And it is actively supported and gets updated more than once every three years :P

You have to ask Randy. If he doesn't mind I'll add the few new features.

Strangely enough these people exist (as well as ones who still use the DOS EXE...)

Ok, I am probably not the right person to say this but I also have completely stopped using ZDoom for anything by now. 2.0.97 and 98 are far too buggy for my taste (Strife isn't even playable anymore with these versions.) so I added the 'true software mode' setting to GZDoom in order to have a less buggy engine that runs in normal software mode without GL data.

 Hmm... where are they (legally) getting DOS from and why are they still using it :?

They use it because for them it's the way Doom is supposed to be played. Some people are so utterly fundamentalist that it defies belief.
