[sorry, but no]Translations for PNGs etc

If this is already in, I couldn't get it to work. Would it be possible to have translations for items that do not use the Doom graphic format? I have a sprite for an enemy that I would like to appear in a few guises and the easiest way would be for him to have some translations applied. However, the sprites use PNG graphics rather than Doom ones.
I realise there will be difficulties with this - like how to specify which colours to change when a single enemy could have a different palette for each sprite graphic but, I dunno, specifying input ranges by RGB values or something?
Anyway, would it be possible or something too difficult for graphics not using the standard palette?
