Attention, anybody that has the power to do so

I need assistance from a site administrator. Seeing as I am merely a global moderator (and as such, I lack access to the forum's admin controls), I have to post this right in the open where Grubber (or somebody with admin rights) can see it.
There are a LOAD of porno spambots registering on the site as of late, and one of them has actually tried to post a thread. Look at the Memberlist and sort it by Joined Date (Descending) and you'll find a buttload of members with nonsense usernames, and they all have the same homepage.
There's a few different ways we could go about fixing this - I suggest we do what zdoom.org did and rename the PHP scripts that drive the forums. It might take a bit of work, but it'd help in the long run (unlike IP banning whoever keeps registering these porn spam bots in the first place).
A problem like this can only get worse if nobody does anything about it.

Does this board require one of those visual confirmation thingies?

If it stops, or reduces, spambots then yes. I'd noticed them too.

Yeah, I noticed it. I delete them from time to time. I wonder how they can register when there's visual confirmation

.

Taking a closer look at the memberlist, it seems that whoever it is is registering a new account every day, and has been doing this since a week ago. And only now has he actually tried to post something.

I'm bumping this thread because there's been a few more spammers and they're actually starting to post things. Grubber, is it possible that you could find some phpbb plugin that could thwart these spammers? Recently we've had a couple that have posted "cheap meds" and another advertising porn.
As much as I wish I could do something myself, the only thing that's in my power is just deleting posts, and that does not take care of the issue.

Actually, Grubber, while you are at it, could you add a "Bug Reports" forum to my section? My bug tracker page thing isin't cutting it.

Bump!
Grubber is working on a moderator control panel that will allow mods to delete spambots. A matter of time now.

Two words: THANK. GOD.
I could kiss Grubber right about now, but for some reason
I don't think it'd turn out that well.

I'm first going to install some security related mods. I've asked randy of zdoom forum for some hints, since it seems that no spambots are registering there. Plus, I've deleted all users with 0 posts who registered more than a month ago.

Oh cool. Thanks.
I'll post a guidelines thread after I get some rest. Hopefully those who posted old bugs (that are still in the tracker mind you

) can put them in there. (please wait until I finish the guideline thread though)
