Almost everything is completely black!

As mentioned in my other bug report, I just tried running GZDoom on my laptop. To my joy it ran in OpenGL mode first time, but as this thread's title suggests, my joy soon turned to disappointment.

What is black:
- Textures
- Flats
- Monsters, decorations, pick-ups, etc

What isn't black:
- Status bar / HUD
- Weapons
- Skies

Perhaps this is related to the blinking lights problem? Anyway, the sepcs are: Intel Celeron 2.8GHz, Toshiba motherboard, 512MB RAM (shared with graphics card), Radeon 7000 Mobility, Windows XP Pro SP 2, DirectX 9.0c, latest drivers for most hardware.

What if you type IDBEHOLDL? That should disable any fog effects.

Typing IDBEHOLDL does light things up, but everything except the status bar/HUD is strongly tinted green, plus monsters, pick-ups, etc seem to be inversed (that is, what should be dark is light, and visa versa).

That's an intended effect. You can switch it off in the menu (enhanced nightvision.) But the textures are there then, aren't they? If so it clearly shows that that particular graphics card has even more serious fog problems...

Just out of curiosity: How does the outside area in E1M1 look?

Since I probably can't fix the cause of this problem I added an option to switch off fog completely. That means that the game won't look as good as it could but at least it should help with cards like yours here.

It's not completely black like everywhere else, though all the sectors look as though they're at the maximum lighting level.

As it should. They are at full brightness.

I get a similar thing when I change resolution ingame. Restarting GZDoom usually fixes it though.

I have a Geforce 6600GT with the 77.77 drivers, if that helps at all :P

I got a Geforce 6800 with 77.72 but I haven't seen such strange effects yet. I had a GF6600GT before (until the fan broke) and with that all worked well, too. Let's just hope that NVidia didn't screw up their drivers again. A 71.?? version I had was quite unusable because it had several issues.

Strange, I can't seem to reproduce it, changing resolution works fine now (via both console and menu).

Just downloaded the latest version and turned off the depth fog, but the problem persists. In fact, now even IDBEHOLDL doesn't make the textures, etc appear.

Shit! :(

turning off depth fog does however fix the blinking lights problem.

It doesn't fix it. It just switches off the problem. But with that you won't get any fog at all - even in maps that use real fog like LTSD etc.

I think I am going to experiment with an alternative means to create fog. It will probably need a lot more calculating power so it would just be a means to circumvent this.
