[Since the first release] Hitscan problems

I notice that the hitscan attacks just don't hit the target when you're firing from extreme angles.

For example, firing a super shotgun at a Mancubus from high above a cliff (where you have to look down a lot to be able to see the fatso).

The problem is serious with monster models. Being able to see the monsters in 3 dimensions means it's possible to be in situations where the player has to look up or down a lot to shoot the monster.

With this bug, the attacks just totally miss and it doesn't make sense.

I really hope you'll fix this bug eventually because it's kind of a show stopper. :(

The bug is known and Randy even made a fix for his floating point version 2 years ago. Unfortunately it apparently got lost and never was included in the current code base.

I just reopened the ZDoom report about this so I am closing this one.

Thanks Graf. I'm surprised nobody noticed this oddity when playing in OpenGL until after two years later. :P

I noticed, but just thought (without any good reason) that it was just something I'd have to accept. I also noticed that firing at a monster's feet, or just in front of the monster gave me a much better chance of hitting it and I just got used to aiming like that.

Same here. It never bothered me enough to dig out that old bug report
