OK, I originally thought this was a translucency problem, since it first appeared for soul spheres, lost souls and the like; now it is happening with Demons and Imps too. The screenie is from E4M9; the Demon is real, the Lost Soul is not. The echo monster usually appears a few meters toward the player (from where it really is) if it is behind a wall - as soon as you see it in plain sight, the echo monster disappears and you see the real one instead.

Doesn't happen in software mode. Probably an Intel f***-up, but it'd be nice to know what settings to try, unless it can actually be solved in the engine.

OK! This is Intel/Microsoft's fault! Like we didn't already guess that :)

The following may not work for you, but if you have this problem and a 945GM mobile chipset, this is the latest generic drivers for the chipset:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Filter_ ... %20Systems

You need to download the ZIP version and update the drivers from the hardware control applet with Browse for Driver and Have Disk - otherwise, the Intel installer whines that these are not intended for your system and refuses to install them. Remember, it could be right - these drivers are for Intel 945GM mobile chipsets only!

It cures the "grey screen of boredom" problem in SWP, Duke3DW and EDuke32 as well :D

Warning: never let Windows Update change the graphic drivers until you have checked out the drivers it tries to impose - the current ones are worse than the generic ones.

Please move to "Closed Bugs" - not that it was really a bug in the first place :)
