Lastest GZDoom slower than normal, or not?

Hello all. I'll try and keep this as accurate as I can.
Basically, the last time I had used gzdoom was a few months ago, playing the tutnt mod. My specs for the time were 1GB of RAM, a P4 3.0ghz, and an ATI Radeon x600 card running on Windows XP. I don't recall which version of gzdoom I had at the time, but I distinctly remember the mod running very well with little framerate drops.
I am now currently running on Windows Vista with 2.5GB of RAM, with the same processor and graphics card. I had decided to load up tutnt and play through it again, using the latest version of gzdoom, 1.0.32.
But now, even in small areas, my framerate is much lower than it used to be. Most noticeably when looking directly up or down, or when in a large open area. I have played up to "Beyond the Dark Portal" but I had to stop there, because of the comets literally making the game unresponsive. I KNOW for a fact I was able to play tutnt on a system with less RAM much better than now, so why would this severe framerate drop be happening?
My guess would be the latest version of gzdoom has something wrong with it in terms of rendering, which is making gameplay unstable, but that is just my guess.
If someone would be kind enough to give me any previous versions of gzdoom so I could test them and see if the latest version is the problem, I would appreciate it.
Or if someone thinks its not gzdoom but something entirely different that's giving me the trouble, please tell me.
That is all for now, thanks.
