r85 pistol sound too $limited?

When I'm in a pistol fight with zombiemen, I have noticed that my pistol is sometimes silent. Try on map01. Move close to the zombies (eg stand on the point of the bottom triangle step) then face away from the zombies. Now press and hold fire to repeatedly fire the pistol. Whenever a zombie fires, your own pistol goes silent for a shot then recovers.
This does not seem to happen in Zdoom, so it may be an issue that has been resolved and not yet migrated to GZdoom.
