Area near you lights in OpenGL

I mean in software mode and vanilla Doom, the area near you lights but in GZDoom's OpenGL it doesn't

I really want you to implement it :cry:

OpenGL has no lighting method that comes even close what Doom does originally.

Could it be approximated by attaching a weak dynamic light to the player? (Forgetting for a moment the odd effect it would have in multiplayer.)

I was thinking the same thing. That would be something for a user mod rather than something to include in the engine IMO.

Personally, I like the fact that GZdoom doesn't do this. I always disliked the way a wall would suddenly appear in front of you in a dark room, as if by magic, just because you went close to it.
