r534 Vanishing PNG HUD weapons

Sorry that this will be a brief report without an example, but I just noticed it and I'm off to bed. I'll try and make up an example WAD tomorrow if it is still needed but with any luck the following may give enough in the way of clues...

I noticed that some HUD weapons were not being displayed. Sometimes it was just certain frames of a weapon, sometimes it was just the flash, sometimes the whole weapon seemed to be missing. However, it wasn't always the same weapons that were missing. After a bit of testing, this is what I think will cause the problem to occur:

Needs to be a mod that uses PNG weapons, possibly it only happens with true colour PNGs.

Start a game give yourself all the weapons and check each one in turn - they should all work and will continue to do so regardless of what you do next.

Start another new game and give yourself all the weapons and try a few, but not all of them.
Give yourself the light-amp powerup.
Try the weapons that you haven't already tried. Any frames that use PNG graphics will be invisible.
However, any PNG graphics that you have already seen before the powerup was active will not be invisible, nor will normal Doom format graphics.
Deactivate the powerup/wait 'til it runs out. Any invisible frames will still be invisible and remain so. However, if there were any weapons that you had not tested up until this point, they will show normally.


So, to summarise the symptoms with PNG graphics:

If you select and use a weapon before the light-amp powerup is active, you will see the weapon normally.
If you then get a light amp powerup, the weapon will still display normally.
When the light amp runs out, the weapon still displays normally.


If you get a light amp powerup and then change to a weapon that you have not seen up to that point, any PNG frames will be invisible.
When the light amp runs out, the frames that were invisible will continue to be invisible (and remain so even if you change away from the weapon and back again).

If you get a light-amp powerup and let it run out without ever seeing a particular weapon, then select the weapon, you will be able to see it normally.


At least I think that's what is going on. I hope that makes sense.
