[1.4.3] Total PC crash : possibly video driver

I haven't played Doom for a while so I felt like getting back into it. Problem is, about 10 minutes, maybe less, into playing it, my PC crashed. Completely. I had to reboot it. I tried updating my video card driver; that made no difference. I tried disabling CrossFire - no difference. I tried disabling OpenGL and that caused my PC to power down completely (again, <10 minutes into gameplay)! I tried playing in ZDoom 2.4.1 and had no problems whatsoever. My video cards are both ATI Radeon X1950s and I'm running Windows XP Pro 32-bit. Oddly enough, I never used to have this problem, so something's changed between then and now, so any help whatsoever would be greatly appreciated. :)

Hehey, you're from Scotland? Greetings fellow countryman. :) Yeah I had a feeling it would be something to do with ATI. I got a weird graphical glitch from SimCity 4 before I switched over to software rendering. Think in my next major PC overhaul I might be switching over to Nvidia. I do have another development to add though; ZDoom 2.4.1 isn't working perfectly either. I was playing through vanilla Doom and my PC died on the credits screen at the end of episode 1. Not quite as annoying as dying during gameplay, but still, not what I'm used to.
