I have a new widescreen monitor. I set it at 1920x1080. My picture does not look as clear as my old Dell monitor. I must be missing some setting or something. My new monitor is a 22 inch, my old one was a 19 inch regular not wide screen. Probley something simple that I'm overlooking. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you set the resolution that GZDoom plays at to the resolution of your new monitor? On many monitors, scaling a non-native resolution game to fit on the monitor screen often ends up with a lower quality appearance. I don't know what your old Dell monitor was like but if it was a CRT, then those monitors can handle different resolutions pretty well. Not so with newer flat screens.

If your monitor is 1920x1080, use that.

That's what I have it set at. It just doesn't look very good man. I have the texture detail on high. Even the enemy detail looks poor.

No idea. On my own TFT everything looks fine, the general black level issues known to this technology nonwithstanding.

My old dell monitor was a 19" flat screen vga. I'm a idiot can u tell me what u mean by TFT please.
Could it look bad because I am now looking at it with a larger monitor and gzoom does not have the resolution power to look as good as it did on a smaller monitor? It just seems strange because newer titles like battlefield 3 look great but doom doesn't. I know I can't be my video card or could it? It's a new high powered card.

Don't forget that Doom was made for a 320x200 screen resolution and systems with far less RAM and HD space than is common today. Of course the graphics are of far lower resolution than a modern game. But that had been evident for many, many years as monitors increased their resolution. The difference between 19 and 22'' is not that big.

I must be overlooking a setting. Your right, that size is not that big of a jump. The textures look good when viewing them through the wad editor I use but when playing they are washed out. This sucks doom is like my favorite game.

I had some time today to mess with this. I hooked up my old dell monitor to my new computer and it has the same problems. When I built my new machine I downloaded the latest version of Gzdoom. I must be missing a file or something. Is there a open gl file or a high res texture file? Now I know its not the monitor I guess.

Have you tried playing with the settings in Display Options and also with the settings in the submenu OpenGL Options.
Even a small adjustment there can have a profound effect on the screen display.

Thanks for getting back. Yes I have played with all the settings for some time and can't get it to sharpen up at all. Your screen shot looks much better than the picture my monitor is displaying. I will try your file. What does it do?
