[g2.1.pre-863-gb45c88f] ATI Graphical Errors

Multiple graphical errors starting with this devbuilds version. Previous uploaded version (g2.1.pre-860-g8762ab4) works fine.

I am unable to compile it myself right now since I've gone through multiple hard drive crashes, I do not have a working C++ environment right now. It's going to take me a few days to prepare a new Windows image for this since my graphical development one is full right now.

Symptoms noticed so far:
  • Weapon sprites will not show
  • Masked textures are invisible
  • Viewport cropping graphic does not always show; sporadic, usually only refreshes when picking up an item or taking damage, but if resizing the viewport it does not redraw
Computer specs:
  • Intel core i7 940 underclocked to 1.54GHz with only 1 hyper-threaded core (this was necessary because of PSU issues)
  • ATI Radeon HD 4850 (GL Version - 3.3.11672) (Catalyst Version 13.1 - Jan2013)
  • Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter 64-bit (This is an 8.1 Server variant)

Oh, please don't tell me that these idiots left some cards in the dust with such a crucial feature broken...

Deprecating drivers may be all nice and well, but why does it have to be at points where the driver is broken beyond repair...? :(

(FYI, it has been known that AMD had long standing problems with disabled clip planes not being properly checked - seems like you got stuck with that. It wouldn't surprise me if older versions also have problems with reflective floors.)

I'll check that with g2.1.pre-860-g8762ab4.

You are right - activating a mirror sector causes all sorts of graphical glitches. The console and status bar stop working in 860-g8762ab4.

I'm attaching the test wad for future reference, in case it becomes necessary to test it later on if I do not have access to it.

This seems to be worse than I feared. I know that there's drivers out there which cannot disable the clip planes so I made sure that they contain values which always let everything pass. But it looks on your system something far worse is happening, the driver is acting in a completely unpredictable way.

I'm afraid, I'll have to check this on the affected system because I can't get it to glitch at all for me.

It's going to take probably a week or two for me to get everything set up since I am using this system for my school and work currently, I will let you know.

I believe all this was a result of the broken clip planes.
