[fixed]Sprite Clipping - Distance From Viewer

Post by Tormentor667 »

Just take a look at the screenshots and you see the bug. It happens in a lot of maps, in a lot of situations and I have no idea where's the problem.

I can't say that I have seen the problem yet...

Hmm... Any mirrors, stacked sectors, skyboxes or anything like that nearby?

Yeah but they are actually far away from the monsters. In the first shot, a reflective floor is at the top of the platform to the left and in the second screenshot, the reflective floor is about 256 units away from the monsters. Beyond, this also happens in other areas where there are no reflective floors, mirrors or stacked sectors at all.

@Zahl - If you are interested, you could betatest Sapphire and check out if you find the bug yourself and a solution for this, what do you think? :)

I think that'd be the only means to test this. If you do please include your zdoom.ini file so I can test with your exact settings.

Okay, I will contact you later as soon as the map is done. Should just take about another 2-3 days, so stay tuned ;)

To make it short, the sorting algorithm for translucent polygons is having problems with extensive translucent geometry like your light glows. For the time being all you can do is switch off the 'smooth sprite edges' option. because fixing this will require some extensive rewrites for which I don't have the time right now.

EDIT: Seems I was lucky. There was a simpler way to resolve this... :)
