Just a quick question for whomever would know: How should I set up GZDoom so that it runs as faithfully as possible like vanilla Doom?
I'm a nostalgia junkie. Sue me.
Ridiculous Question

1) Go into the Options menu and Disable GL system.
2) Download the attached ZIP file, and extract it to the same folder as your GZDoom.exe
3) Run GZDoom like this: gzdoom.exe -config oldskool.ini
Note: Control scheme is set to something modern. If you don't like it, go ahead and change it. Also, you might need to dig into oldskool.ini and edit the paths and stuff, as the config was made on my hard disk, using my settings.

The guy could either get Dosbox and just run the vanilla Doom.exe, or get Chocolate Doom, the so called most faithful to vanilla source port for modern OSes.
Neither Zdoom or Gzdoom are intended to be faithful to Vanilla, but rather add new stuff for modders.

This is why I want to use GZDoom. I want the old-school Doom flava, but I don't want all the old glitches and artifacts and such. Plus I want to be able to play RTC-2057.wildweasel wrote: As far as I can tell, it's not Graf's intention to retain every single Vanilla glitch and oddity.
So then, thank you Nash for your help. I was expecting a few options pointers, not a pre-made configuration. You've made my job way easier. Thanks much, mate.
