Doom builder GZDoom help with linedef actions

Post by cokeman118 »

when ever I try to make a map in Doom Builder with the GZDoom configuration, the line def actions are in Hexen format. Is this normal?? Alot of the special line def actions don't show up either that are specific to Z/GZ Doom. What am I dont wrong here? Isn't it possible to have both Hexen, and Doom style linedef actions together?? I d/l the config file for Doom Builder for GZ DOOm. I have Zcommon, Zdefs, and Zspecial ACS files. Can someone help with out w/this??

Hexen and Doom map format are completely different and can not be combined. In Hexen format linedef actions work quite differently. Furthermore, Doom format doesn't support most of the enhanced features so there it no special configuration for it. If you want to do some (G)ZDoom specific mapping you will have to familiarize yourself with Hexen map format.

Besides, anything you can do in the Doom format can be recreated in the Hexen format, and Hexen format allows for so many more options. I highly suggest learning how to take advantage of it all, especially the ACS scripting.

I was faced with the same nightmare when I converted to the cult of Graf Zahl.

But now that I'm converted, I'm happier than ever...

...if not a little confused at times. Those extra options really add a lot more depth to DOOM!
