I don't use the desktop much, I tend to dump everything into QuickLaunch or the start menu somewhere. Hell I rarely ever actually see my wallpaper, some fullscreen window is in the way.

I love the simple-and-clean approach
The main image is this one from the NASAMars Exploration Roversimage gallery trimmed to fit. It is just AWESOME that we can send robots half a billion miles across space and take photos of the horizon on the surface of another planet -- there was even one of Earth as seen in the night sky and another of sunset on Mars! Ultra cool !
It looks nice but it's not worth putting up with driver problems and stuff like our friend J-Dub is having. He can't even do something as simple as run ZDoom. =(
BTW There is a plenty of videos showing it in action on YouTube.
@Nash: You pay by money for Windows and you pay by knowledge for Linux. I prefer paying by knowledge, because unlike money it remains And I've never got problems running zdoom or beryl.
