1.0.27 Can shoot enemies below you when not aiming at them

Post by Enjay »

I'm assuming this is the same bug as was reported over at Zdoom, but just in case...

If you are standing on a tall ledge and there is an enemy below, you can hit it even if you are not aiming down at it.

A good place to try - warp to map09 ("The Pit") and go up to the top of the ledges around the start spot. Summon some enemies into the pit below. Aim directly across the pit (without looking down) and fire. When an enemy is in front of you, but below you, you will hit it, do damage and its blood splats will appear on the back wall even though that is the opposite side to where the monster is.

I tried with autoaim off and on the low setting.

Well, I guess that's what I get for taking Randy's code untested and assuming he already did it.
Turned out that his attempt to fix the 'hitting from above or below' bug didn't really work at all... Important checks were missing.

That's a shame. It's a bit of a gameplay breaker (I noticed it within seconds of strating a game). :?
