Random Sound Issues

Post by ChupaReaper »

There're some serious sound problems I've had since the update, it seems some weapon/monster sounds work and others don't, randomly (though fixed to specific things, but there's no reason why), same goes for music, one track will play where another wont, yet all these files are loaded and named under the same circumstances... My cool 3D Minigun just isn't that life like without the majestic clanks as it turns it's turrets...!
I have made three chainguns which all follow the same Decorate/SNDINFO/MODELDEFs the only differences are the actor/sound names and the ammo types, so basically they've all ungone the same process when being made, however, the sounds onlyt work on two of them, same goes for other things.
I like the new underwater effects that are working though!
This problem has also been consistant on multiple computers as well, the only thing they have in common is Windows Vista, but I don't think that's the cause of it.

Hope you enjoyed my wall of text!

Randy has made some significant changes to how sound behaves over the last few versions of Zdoom and the current sound code is more Randy's, rather than Graf's baby. I suggest you try and see if the problem exhibits itself in Zdoom too and, if so, report things over at Zdoom.

I'm closing this because the sound code has seen some significant changes since 1.1.04. If you can reproduce the sound issues with the latest build please re-report at the ZDoom forum. As Enjay said, that's Randy's code and I won't touch it unless it's trivial.
