1. I unzip and install GZDoom into its appropriate folder.
2. I run GZDoom to let it generate the ini file.
3. I start up GZDoom and go into OPTIONS - SET VIDEO MODE
4. I change from the default 4:3 aspect ratio to 16:10 and select the screen size and hit enter
5. I hear the pistol sound twice, the screen goes black and hangs
6. I open up the Task Manger and two entries say that GZDoom is not responding
7. I click on End Task and the black screen closes.
8. I start up GZDoom again, select OPTIONS - SET VIDEO MODE
9. I change from the default 4:3 aspect ratio to 16:10, select the screen size, hit enter and it works properly every time from then on.
I assume that this is a bug with the latest versions, since this does not happen with r545 or earlier

Re: [553 and beta versions] hang on initial resolution change
Are you sure you can rule out other factors like a driver update maybe?
None of the code that even remotely is involved in resolution changing has been touched between r545 and 553.
What's your hardware specs?
Works fine for me, btw.

I installed 04b on two other computers and GZDoom performed the initial resolution change without problems. Both computers had older Nvidia drivers installed.
I had noticed, that after installing 191.07, when moving an icon around on the desktop, that all the icons flickered. Maybe that driver does not behave well on my system. I reinstalled 190.62 and now the initial resolution change proceeds properly.

Looks like a driver error then. I'm using the 32 bit version of 191.07 and have no problems with it though.
