[won't change][0.9.16] Decal Bug

Post by justin023 »

I noticed that one of the decals for my dartgun is missing in openGL. You can see this in the .wad that I posted earlier. It can be verified there is a lower decal by switching to software mode. The lower decal is placed 4/5 of the time and is scaled 0.00125.

The minimum scale that can be used on a decal is 0.032. You are using 0.00125! The only reason the software renderer still draws it is that it treats a scale of 0 as the minimum possible.

This is not worth fixing. Give your decal a reasonable scale and it will work. If it is too large, scale the graphic. It is not the only thing in your WAD that is excessively detailed without any benefit.

Ok, I can always scale the graphic itself. What would you say is excessive detail without benefit? I don't think any architecture or new graphics are without benefit. I think there needs to be more detail in some places. I also think there are far too many wads that are plain as can be. I would rather be known as the "ridiculously over detailed .wad" guy than the "extra plain and uninventive .wad" guy
