[It's a feature, not a bug!] Light Amp/Invisibility Bug?

Post by Deathlike2 »

Refer to the LTSD (License to Spell Doom) map you provided in the ATI Fog forum post.

When you find a monster that has "invisibility" (first chance you see them are the zombiemen in E4M5), using Light Amplification revealed them. In comparing this to ZDoom, ZDoom doesn't exhibit this.

That's why it is called 'enhanced nightvision'. Switch back to normal nightvision and it goes away.

This was done on purpose because I find stealth monsters highly annoying and wanted to have a weapon against them.

Wow cool! I didn't realise you'd built that into the light-amp. Excellent idea. Makes sense and actually means that stealth enemies could be used sensibly in combination with a light-amp. Good job!

Well, I thought it was a bug.. I prefer it this way as well.. though I would like to think there would be a option to turn that on and off.

Actually, it was broken. But in the next version 'normal' light amplification will work as it does in software mode.

I was going to report that bug about disabling the enhanced nightvision.. I did finally found the switch (I didn't remember it existing, and then when I did recall something along the nightvision switch, I forgot about its location.. ah whatever)
