doublebind mouse problem

Post by simc »

There's some anomaly with the automap mode and doublebinding actions to the mouse buttons. The problem occures with the normal automap but not with the overlay automap.

This can be tested easily with the lift in Doom2 MAP01 in nomonsters mode. The procedure is the following:

- (rename or delete the old config-ini file before if you want or need)
- type to the console: doublebind mouse2 "+use"

The default action for mouse-2 is strafing, but now you can also activate switches and doors by doubleclicking the mouse-2 button.

- In Doom2 MAP01 go next to the lift in the dark brown main hall.
- Try doubleclicking the lift down. It works fine.
- Now switch the automap on and *keep it on*.
- Try doubleclicking the lift down. It works fine.
- Wait until the lift has risen. (You'll see it from the automap)
- Try doubleclicking the lift down again. Now it doesn't work anymore! Try again.
- Switch the automap off.
- Try doubleclicking the lift down. It still won't work!
- Try second time doubleclicking the lift down. Now it works again.

In this case also strafing with mouse-2 doesn't work while automap is on. But strafing works right after switching the automap off. If I remove the doublebinding strafing works all the time while automap is on or off. If I remove the default action for mouse-2 (strafing) and have only the doublebinding (use) it still behaves the same as described above.

This seems to occure with the all the recent builds and different systems (XP, Vista) having the basic two buttons + mouse wheel-button mouse (Logitech, Microsoft).

Yup, following the above procedure I get the same result - in both GZDoom and ZDoom.

A little more information. Going back to the game screen and moving "resets" the problem. So you can back off from the switch and approach it again and the double click will work. However, if you do this without returning to the game screen (ie you keep it on the automap) the moving doesn't seem to reset the problem and the double click continues to not work.

As an additional bit of info, I normally have mouse2 (single)bound to +use and this does not show the problem. (ie a single-click use does not seem to become inoperable when you use it at the automap screen in the way that the double click does.)

Please, mark this as solved. This has been fixed in the latest svn build. Both GZDoom and ZDoom.

Thanks!
