Maximizing GzDoom on windowed is weird.

I usually play doom windowed + maximized because I usually minimize whatever I'm playing due to messages, but it just looks so weird in GzDoom. This never happens in software(ST, Zdaemon).

This is rather normal. You should go in the "set video mode" menu and select a size closer to your screen's native resolution. An OpenGL device context isn't meant to be stretched arbitrarily outside of its parameterized dimensions.

In fact, the last time this was reported, the fix was to disable maximization entirely.

I see you're using an old version of GZDoom. Note that despite what the outdated homepage says, the latest official version is 1.6.00, and even newer builds can be found here.
