Hey Everyone, Still new to GZDOOM. Used Skulltag forever. Onto my bugs.
Bug One-Using mod Brutal Doom the feature to reload. I have changed it in controls, but everytime I reload the game it doesnt save. The default is "R" for reload. I change it to right mouse click. Playing after changing over works but when I exit out of the game and start it back up it goes back to "R". Never had this problem with Skulltag.
Bug Two-Inbetween each level it takes a minute to start up and a big green screen shows up. Only for a matter of seconds but its a pain in the butt. Again, never had this problem with Skulltag.
Any help would be awesome!!

Indeed it would. The best help that you could give would be to let people know your system specs just like it tells you in the Bug posting guidelines thread.DOOMSLAYER wrote:Any help would be awesome!!

Your first problem is unlikely to be GZDoom specific and so would probably be better reported at the ZDoom forum. However, it does sound like a problem that people have reported before. From memory, it occurs because (G)ZDoom is installed in a protected directory (eg c:\program files) and you do not have the user rights to modify it. If GZDoom is in a protected folder, try putting it somewhere else and see what happens.
As for the green screen problem you mention, your system specs (especially graphics card, driver version and OS) would a really help as might a log of the GZDoom console (start GZDoom by adding +logfile log.txt to the command line - which will create a file called log.txt in your GZDoom directory as you play). Post the contents of the log in this thread.

Thank you for the help sir, I will try the suggestions tonight after work and see what the deal is. So just move the Zdoom folder to the desktop?

Well, I personally would use something like c:\doom\gzdoom but the choice is yours. However, I don't know if the desktop is also a protected folder or not. I'm guessing not seeing as how it is possible to put stuff there as and when you like.

Re: Two Bugs
Well got the one bug under control. No more green screen before each level start and end. Had to change the size of the screen. But the reload still wont save when I customize my controls. Very strange because everything else changes, example different screen size, music volume.
Just seems like the custom controls dont want to save. Any suggestions? I tried moving the folder around, didnt do much of anything. I also looked for the edit document to just have it start up with that command but couldnt find it for brutal doom.

Ok, have decided GZDoom is terrible. Skulltag was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better. Figured out the custom controls problem....tho still not sure WHAT was causing the trouble.
Playing Brutal Doom with its Mutators added on and they were the problem. When playing the mod with more mods it wouldnt save the custom controls. Just Brutal Doom by itself works and saves fine. Doesnt make any sense really but it is what it is. Im going back to skulltag. Thanks for the help.

Don't expect any more help if you post nonsense like that.
