I'm using GZDoom rev1532 with a bunch of textures plus Brutal Doom.
The problem is like that:
1. click secondary fire (which brings the sights of the weapon in the Brutal Doom).
2. shoot
3. reload,which brings the weapon to normal view eventially
4. trying secondary fire - fail ! the model of weapon starts an animation, but switches back to normal view.
in-game fix: after the next weapon reload, sniper view becomes available again. in order to avoid, the weapon should leave the sniper view before reload. not very comfortable. Zandronum handles this flow very well.

Which version of Brutal Doom are you running? I just tried with v0.17 and it worked as I would have expected in r1532.
Are you saying that it works for you in Zandronum but not in GZDoom?

I use Brutaldoom18a, the most up-to-date version.
It works in Zandronum.

OK, I haven't downloaded that one yet. However, if it works in Zandronum but not GZDoom then it could well be a GZDoom problem. There have been some changes to the weapon lowering code in ZDoom relatively recently and that could be responsible. Can you replicate the problem in ZDoom and, if so, it would be best to post a bug in the ZDoom bugs forum.

I tried that version of the mod with both GZDoom r1531 and ZDoom r4164, which GZDoom r1532 is based on, and I followed the steps in the OP but couldn't produce the issue. Everything seems to be working as you'd expect it.

Yesterday I wasn't able to reproduce this anymore.
I guess that the flow to reproduce this bug is inaccurate. In this case, the bug should be closed, until I figure out how to repeat it.

And in any case, this isn't going to be a GZDoom-specific bug, so if you do find a way to replicate it, report it on the ZDoom forums instead.
