Hello people.
I have a problem with the GZDoom engine.
Whenever I start it, it opens on my second screen.
How can I make it open on my main screen?
whenever I use windowed mode it goes to the correct screen but then I have those ugly borders.
I checked about all the settings and even though there MANY options, choosing on which screen to open the engine is not among the options.
GZdoom opens on wrong screen

Re: GZdoom opens on wrong screen
Which version of GZDoom are you running? (Version number is printed in the bottom right of the console).
Does the same thing happen with ZDoom or is it just GZDoom?
What graphics hardware and OS are you using?
Sort of in reverse, while checking this, I couldn't figure out how to get a full-screen instance of GZDoom on to my secondary monitor. Full screen always defaults to the main monitor (which is fine in my situation). I wonder, is the monitor that you use as your main one actually the main one as far as Windows is concerned (e.g. is this reflected in the control panel/ configuration software for your graphics card)?

Re: GZdoom opens on wrong screen
I am running on version 1.8.2
And I just checked Zdoom, it's not a problem there, it opens on my Main screen.
So the problem only occurs with GZdoom.
I use Windows 7 64bit.
Radeon HD 5870 with Intel Core I7.
Although my main screen is "set" as main screen, Windows detects it as screen number 2, would that be the problem?
Would be kinda weird though, I play a lot of different games and this is the very first time any engine decides to open on my second screen.
I will try and see if switching DVI ports for my 2 screens help.
EDIT2: Ok I changed the 2 ports but for whatever reason Windows keeps detecting my second screens as the number 1 and my main screen as number 2 just like before I switched the ports..... So it seems we need to find some other way.

Re: GZdoom opens on wrong screen
I'm having this same issue. I'm running 1.8.2.
Windows 7 64bit. GeForce GTX 460.
The way my monitors are set up, my TV is identified as 1, my main monitor is 2, and my second monitor is 3. I never have all three of them on at once because I'd need another card for that, so my TV is usually off as is the case now. Every time I try to run the game in fullscreen, it displays on monitor 3 (my secondary monitor). Monitor 2 shows up as the main monitor in the control panel too. I've never had an issue like this with any other game either.
It's weird because I never had this problem with version 1.6 of GZDoom.

Have you tried changing the vid_adapter value?Selvator wrote:I checked about all the settings and even though there MANY options, choosing on which screen to open the engine is not among the options.

No I haven't, didn't know there was such an option.Gez wrote:Have you tried changing the vid_adapter value?Selvator wrote:I checked about all the settings and even though there MANY options, choosing on which screen to open the engine is not among the options.
I fixed it by physically changing the position of my 2 monitors

I guess that console command could have done the trick as well, thanks for the help

Re: GZdoom opens on wrong screen
Heh, I completely forgot about that. I does indeed change which monitor GZDoom appears on (for me anyway).
For info, it requires either a restart of the game to make it happen or a switch to and from windowed mode.
